Business Accounts
Organizations that use SadServers must sign up for a Business account rather than using a Pro account.
The Business account allows organizations to use SadServers as a job candidate interviewing tool and/or as an internal training, assessment or event tool.
Currently the Business account plan is one fixed price for a monthly subscription, with a 20% discount for a yearly subscription. This is “all-inclusive” and “unlimited everything” (e.g. number of internal or external users, number of interviews, number of running scenarios). No add-ons, surcharges or surprises.
Benefits
For Users
The Business account allows for an unlimited number of internal organization users.
Users can be onboarded automatically either by invite, or automatically (self-directed) if they have a SadServers account.
Organization users enjoy all the Pro features:
- Access to all scenarios , including the harder, more complex ones.
- Unlimited tries of all scenarios – including already solved scenarios – unlike free accounts that cannot retry solved scenarios multiple times.
- Unlimited number of scenarios per day, there’s no rate-limiting for Pro accounts.
- Double the time to complete scenarios. All scenario VMs have twice the time to be solved before being automatically terminated.
- Direct SSH access to VMs. Scenario servers in Pro accounts can be accessed directly by SSH. Users can upload their public SSH key to their dashboard or they can use a one-time private key they can download from the running scenario page. This allows users to use their own SSH terminal rather than using the terminal-to-web interface.
- VMs with Internet access. This allows users to install their own tooling for example. Additionally, some scenarios may require Internet access to be solved.
- Achievements Page. Users can add their name or alias in their dashboard and display (or hide) a public page with their SadServers achievements (a sort of certificate in troubleshooting skills). This includes a downloadable PDF. See for example: https://sadservers.com/user/fduran/
- Ranking Page. Feature their name or alias in the Ranking page.
- Command History Log. See in their Dashboard the list of commands they entered in the scenarios they ran. Currently keeping scenarios done up to 30 days old.
For Hiring
The Business plan includes all that is needed in order to interview job candidates with SadServer scenarios and be able to see their performance, with zero friction for users or candidates.
The “happy path” for interviewing candidates is:
- Create one or more interviews with any number of scenarios and custom time limits for each scenario.
- Invite any number of candidates to the interviews. For each scenario and candidate a “magic” one-time link is created and emailed to the candidate (or you can share in any way with them, for example in a chat tool right before the interview).
- At interview time, or asynchronously, the candidate clicks on the link and this creates the scenario challenge they have to work on. This has zero-friction for candidates; they don’t need to create a SadServers account or do anything else.
- Optionally, you can join with the web terminal the candidate server during the interview.
- Once the exercise is over, the interview results (time to solve if solved and number of clues used) can be seen in a dashboard shared across the organization.
- Anyone in the organization can view or download the candidate’s shell command history for the scenario they worked on.
For Events
Companies use SadServers to organice team building or competition events. These events can be organized in the same way as job interviews, only the “interview” would be the event and instead of external job candidates you have internal users but the mechanics are the same.

Subscriptions & Cancellations
- We use Stripe, a trusted external payment processor, to handle all transactions securely. Your credit card details are never seen or stored by us.
- Payment is required upon sign-up and the benefits of the Business account are available immediately.
- You can cancel at any time; this means the subscription won’t be renewed and you won’t be charged again for it. This also means that there are no refunds for the time between the cancellation and the next billing cycle date. You still have the Business account features until the end of the billing cycle.
- Cancelling takes only three “clicks”: from your dashboard click on “Manage billing”, then at the Stripe screen click “Cancel Plan” and confirm.
- Annual subscriptions that are cancelled after two months can request a refund for the remaining pro-rated time in the subscription.
